Winter Road Trip

On arrival in Phoenix, collect your rented car and drive two hours north to Sedona.  Take a few days here to explore the Red Rock Secret Mountain Wilderness.  The hotel is situated in the Boynton Canyon, surrounded by red rock and offers a wide variety of experiences and excursions as well as a relaxing spa to unwind at the start of your adventure.

Today, make the beautiful drive through Oak Creek Canyon as you head toward the rim of the Grand Canyon.  You will be rewarded with a magical view of the Canyon and during the winter months, tourist numbers are down and this makes the experience even more unique.  Spend the next two nights on guided walks (wrap up warm!) and drives with an experienced guide.

Continue north stopping at Page where you will meet your local Navajo guide who will take you on an unforgettable adventure through the Antelope Canyon and the Rattlesnake Canyon.  You will be astounded walking through these natural wonders of colourful eroded rock.  End your day by arriving at one of the most unique hotels of the country, the Amangiri. Harmoniously built into the desert landscape, it oozes style and luxury. For the next days, visit Lake Powell, venture out on horseback or mountain bike.  In the evenings soak in the Amangiri’s heated pool or sit by your private fire pit, taking in the large desert skies.

Travel east today to Monument Valley, where many a western film has been made.  With your Navajo guide, travel through this red sand desert seeing the sandstone buttes and spires and ancient petroglyphs.

Further east cross into Colorado to the San Juan National Forest.  Stay in a luxurious rustic cabin and enjoy the winter wonderland that surrounds you. Activities include snowshoeing, cross country skiing, heli-skiing, dog-sledding and soaking in the Dunton hot springs.
