Trekking in The Himalayas

Itinerary

Day 1 - 2 - London - Delhi
Arrive in Delhi where you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel in Delhi. Afternoon to explore Delhi Old Town with an english speaking guide.

Day 3 - Delhi - Deora
Depart Delhi on early morning train, duration 5hrs 30 mins. Arrive in Kaphgodam to bee met and driven to Almora, duration 3hrs 30mins. Set off from the village of Chitai and walk for 2hrs, ending with a gentle climb uphill to the village of Deora. (Luggage will be taken ahead by porters)freshen up and to enjoy a drink before dinner in the Deora Village House.

Day 4 - Deora - Jwalabanj
Setting off from Deora, you will reach the village of Chirala after approximately 30mins of walking, where you can visit the local school. If he is around, you can also visit the house of an interesting ex-army officer. Continue walking through a pine forest, descending into the Shivalaya valley as the forest peters out. The scenic valley has a stream running down one side and one can often see children playing in the stream and adults working the fields. Walk along the valley before turning left and climbing up towards the village of Alai. Follow a water canal for 20mins before stopping for a drink and the opportunity to dip your feet in a natural rock pool. Continuing along the path, passing a ghatt (water powered flour mill) and terraced fields through the village of Palyu, before climbing for 20mins to the road head at Ka-Chula pool. From Ka-Chula Pool you have the option of taking the car (which will be waiting for you) to Dhaulchina, around 20mins away, before walking gradually uphill for thirty minutes to the lunch spot. If you feel more energetic, the walk from Ka-Chula Pool to the lunch spot (without taking the car) takes around 1.5hrs with two fairly steep uphill stretches. After lunch, continue walking gradually uphill through stunning rhododendron forest for around 1.5hrs until you reach the village of Jwalabanj.

Day 5 - 6 - Jwalabanj - Leti
Today, walk the route heading to Leti. It usually takes one hour along a dramatic mountain trail. An innovative language of architecture that combines age-old local building techniques with contemporary design and structural technologies, set in a stunning mountain wilderness at 8,000 feet, 360° Leti is a place where you can take time to reflect, and allow the space, peace and astonishingly beautiful landscape to work their magic around you. With only four private guest pavilions and a main lounge-dining area, 360° Leti provides an exclusive mountain experience – the first and only place of its kind in the Himalayas. Indoors, there’s gourmet cooking and fine wine, as well as beds adorned with pashmina blankets and fluffy duvets. Outdoors there are mountain walks (with private guides), delicious picnics, fabulous views, just chilling out in planter‟s chairs – and, if you wish, yoga and meditation sessions by arrangement.

Day 7 - 8 - Leti - Delhi
After breakfast, walk to the road where your vehicle will be waiting to drive you back to Kathgodam station. You will then be driven back to Kasar Devi for a late lunch. After lunch be driven from Kasar Devi to Kathgodam. Depart Kathgodam on the sleeper train to Delhi where on arrival you will be transferred your hotel.
