The Cape and Rail

On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel.  You will spend the next four full days exploring Cape Town and the surrounding areas.  The Cape has so much on offer including, Table Mountain National Park and aerial cable car, vineyard tours and tasting such as the Franschhoek Wine Route or Stellenbosch, the Robben Island Tour (where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated), Cliffton Beach, Cape Point, Boulders Beach to see the African penguins, Cape Agulhas where the two oceans meet, the V&A waterfront around Cape Town’s historic port, and Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens (World Heritage Site).

Upon arrival in Johannesburg, you will take a short drive to Pretoria where you will board the wonderful Rovos Rail train for a three-day journey ending at Victoria Falls.  Rovos Rail offers accommodation of an unmatched standard combining the opulence of pre-war travel with subtle modern innovations.  Each cabin has a sitting area and a private en-suite bathroom with a hot water shower.  Lunch and formal dinners are in the charming Victorian atmosphere of the dining car – meals are carefully prepared and complemented by a selection of South African wines.  This three-day journey through South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe is an epic experience culminating in the impressive beauty and force of Victoria Falls.  There are plenty of stop offs during the journey with highlights include travelling past Johannesburg’s goldfields, Botswana’s capital Garbone and an afternoon of game viewing in Zimbabwe.

After arriving at Victoria Falls, you will spend one night at a hotel near the Falls from which you can end your holiday on a high by taking a private tour of this impressive natural wonder.
