Itinerary
-
Day 1 - 5 - London - Hong Kong - Auckland
Fly from London to Auckland, stopping over in Hong Kong/Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur.
Arrive in Auckland and spend a few days sightseeing in and around the city. Climb the Sky Tower in Auckland and if you’re feeling ultra brave, bungee jump off it. Visit the Auckland Museum, head to Ponsonby for some fun shops and great restaurants or try Parnell Village. Take a trip to the bubbling geysers and mud pools at Rotorua, which erupt as high as 30 metres into the air many times a day. Take time to learn a little about Maori culture, which remains strong in this area. Stay in a hotel overlooking the sea to enjoy the wonderful light and fresh air.
-
Day 6 - 8 - Auckland - Matauri Bay
Helicopter transfer to Kauri Cliffs Lodge in Matauri Bay. Relax here for a few days and really get over your jetlag. If you’re a golfer, this is golfing heaven. If you’re not, you can still have a go at putting or even get lessons. Enjoy the pool, walking around the grounds or on the beach. Boat trips and fishing can be organised. Or do absolutely nothing and enjoy the pristine fresh air. The food and wine are outstanding; why not try wine tasting or a BBQ on the beach.
-
Day 9 - 11 - Matauri Bay - Lake Taupo
Transfer by helicopter or plane to the famous Huka Lodge at Lake Taupo, a volcanic caldera. Huka Lodge is the original super lodge in New Zealand and remains at the top of its game. The list of activities is endless, everything from bungee jumping to heli fly-fishing, or tamer pursuits of walking and kayaking. The environment is stunning with a beautiful river running along the front of the property, and the quality of the food on offer is exceptional, along with delicious New Zealand wine.
-
Day 12 - 13 - Lake Taupo - Hawke's Bay
Why not hire a car and drive down to the Hawke’s Bay area. Stop off at the wonderful Art Deco City of Napier and spend a little time looking around and enjoying the environs. Continue on to Hawke’s Bay, the oldest wine area in New Zealand. Visit some wineries or take a wine tour and then overnight at one of the wonderful local hotels. If you like birds visit Cape Kidnappers one of the world’s largest mainland gannet colonies.
-
Day 14 - 16 - Hawke's Bay - Rimutaka Forest Park
Take a helicopter from Hawke’s Bay to the wonderful Wharekauhau Lodge set in 5000 acres of private land, again enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities or just relax in the beautiful grounds and take advantage of the lovely spa.
-
Day 17 - 18 - Rimutaka Forest Park - Auckland - Hong Kong - London
Make your way back to Auckland or onto Christchurch for your return trip home.
