Ngorongoro, Serengeti and Mnemba

Make an overnight stop in Nairobi, staying in a hotel near the airport for ease for your flight to Kilimanjaro the following morning.  Upon arrival you will be met by your driver and taken to your lodge situated in Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA).  The NCA is an extensive highland area along the eastern arm of the Rift Valley, with the world-renowned Ngorongoro Crater as its focal point.  It was established to conserve wildlife and other natural resources, and to safeguard the interests of indigenous people and promote tourism.  Thus, guests on safari have the experience of seeing Masai herdsmen’s cattle graze alongside with the tremendous variety of wildlife found in the area.

This morning you will leave your camp with the guide who will drive you through the Serengeti National Park spotting game and making stops along the way, until you reach your next camp.  The exclusive camp changes site depending on the time of the year and situates itself for best game viewing.  You will be able to see the outstanding annual migration where over two million wildebeest and many more animals charge across the plains.

On arrival in Zanzibar, you will be met and transferred to a private boat which will boat you over to Mnemba Island.  This island is for those who want barefoot luxury, an escape from the rest of the world.  Mnemba is a low-lying coral island of the north-east coast of Zanzibar.  It takes 20 minutes to sail around, is clad in coastal forest and is fringed by shallow reefs which drop off into deep waters.  Activities include snorkelling, dhow sailing, diving and fishing – or just kick back and relax.

Today a boat will take you to Zanzibar, where you will transferred by car to Stone Town.  Wander through the narrow streets, through markets and visit the churches.   In the afternoon, take a spice tour and learn about the island’s cultural heritage.  In the early evening, you will be transferred to Zanzibar airport to board a flight to Nairobi.  Connect in Nairobi for the return flight to London.
