Land of The Thunder Dragon

Fly to Delhi, Kathmandu, or Bangkok arriving in the evening.  Transfer to hotel near airport for the night in order for the flight to Paro the next day.  Arrive in Paro and be welcomed by your guide and driver.  Drive to Thimpu, the capital, stopping along the way to visit significant temples and sites.

Spend the morning further sightseeing Thimphu, visiting places of interest, as well as local shops.  After lunch, drive to Punakha stopping off at the Dochula Pass.  Enjoy a tranquil stroll amongst the forest of fluttering prayer flags and the maze of 108 memorial chortens or stupa.  Continue to Punakha where you will stay for two nights.

Today make the journey back to Paro via the Dochula pass taking the route that follows the Pa Chhu River, through apple orchards and rice paddies, past quaint homesteads to Paro town.Arrive at your hotel for a relaxing evening.  The next day, it’s time to put on your walking shoes and set out.  Start your walk in earnest once you have crossed the traditional covered bridge, Nyami Zam and over the Pa Chhu River.  You will then be driven further on to Bhutan’s National museum, taking in the magnificent views. Return to Paro for the night.

Spend the next few days hiking, driving and sightseeing around the unspoilt Chele La Pass and Ha Valley.  On the final day you will make the hike to the iconic Taktsang Goemba or Tiger’s Nest Monastery – a fitting climax to your adventure.

Today make the return journey to London, connecting via Delhi.
