Itinerary

Day 1 - 2 - London - Madrid - Quito
Arrive in Quito to be driven to a beautiful hotel on a central plaza. Formerly a historic mansion, it has been restored to a beautiful hotel with eclectic design. The next day you will be taken on a walking tour of Quito which is a fascinating city. The tour will include visiting the Colonial Quarter which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the afternoon you will drive north of Quito to the Middle of The World where you can literally have one foot in the north and southern hemispheres simultaneously, and receive a certificate.

Day 3 - 5 - Quito - Ibarra
Today you will be driven a few hours to the Ibarra region to an eco lodge with mesmerising views of the Andes. This hacienda is a working farm and much of the food is made with the produce grown onsite. It has been in the family of one of Ecuador’s past presidents for over 100 years and has a friendly and wholesome atmosphere. Enjoy hiking, horse riding, village tours and traditional cuisine. Stay on a full board basis.

Day 6 - Ibarra - Otavalo - Quito
Return back to Quito for one night. En-route, stop over at Otovalo, a colourful market town with lots of souvenirs.

Day 7 - 9 - Quito - Amazon Basin
This morning, take a short flight to Coca, east of Quito in the Amazon Rainforest. Upon arrival you will transfer to a motorised canoe, and then an unmotorised, smaller canoe. You will stay in a wildlife reserve in the Yasuni National Park which is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Enjoy exploring the rainforest and local wildlife with experienced guides. Stay on a full board basis.

Day 10 - Amazon Basin - Quito
Return back to Quito by the same route via leisurely canoe rides. You will spend one night in a colonial hotel with lots of character and charm. It serves wonderful traditional Ecuadorian food in the restaurant and a more relaxed grill by the pool.

Day 11 - 17 - Quito - Galapagos
Today you will board a flight to Baltra, one of the islands of the Galapagos. You will then be transferred to a catamaran where you will spend the next seven days exploring the islands. The boat can accommodate up to 16 passengers, and depending on the length of your stay, the itinerary varies. On board are knowledgeable staff and arrange twice daily trips to the islands. However, if you would rather stay on board and indulge in the relaxed atmosphere you are more than welcome. Stay on a full board basis.

Day 18 - 19 - Guayaquil - Madrid - London
Return journey via Guayaquil and Madrid.
