Cape Town and Safari

The vibrant city of Cape Town is a special place where cultures and oceans meet.  Unique in its geography and biodiversity, there are few places in the world with so much to offer ranging from natural wonders on land and at sea, urban delights and the nearby wine regions.

The city is divided into eight regions, each with its own character and offerings.  Activities are wide and varied from museums and tours of South Africa’s turbulent past to guided hikes, walks in the beautiful Kristenbosch Botanical Garden, with over 22,000 species of plant, or a trip up the iconic Table Mountain.  Alternatively, escape the city to the wonderful wine regions and visit the older rural towns – a worthwhile retreat.  Spend six days exploring Cape Town and the surrounding areas.  You may perhaps spend two nights in the wine regions, or take a few days trekking.

Today you will be driven to Samara Game Reserve with a stop at Addo Elephant Park where you can spend time viewing elephants and other animals.  Continue to your camp in the reserve.   Among the larger species of 60 mammals found on this private game reserve are buffalo, greater kudu and duiker, the secretive aardvark and white rhino.  Giraffe browse the thorny Acacia, and cheetah are on the alert for unsuspecting prey.  In the mornings you might choose to take a game drive covering some of the four different biomes in this semi-wilderness, coming across different animals and a diverse number of birds, including the beautiful Blue Crane.  In the afternoon you may decide on a different activity such as a walking safari, and track cheetah and other animals.  It’s a different experience – no noise and no hurry.  You will see is a wide variety of wildlife in a variety of habitat.  Why not try a night drive to see if you can spot the extraordinary aardvark among other nocturnal creatures.  Your accommodation in Samara is a luxury lodge, with each room having a glorious outside bathroom with magnificent views.

Return journey to London Heathrow, via Port Elizabeth and Cape Town.
