Born Free Safari
from £6,200 per person
Itinerary
-
Day 1 - 4 - London - Nairobi - Meru National Park
Upon arrival at Meru, you will be transferred to a boutique lodge carved into Mughwango Hill. Ideal for honeymooners with its romantic setting and stunning decor, the lodge is secluded within 215,000 acres (870 sqkm) of conserved African landscape, teeming with wildlife, including a rhino sanctuary. Here you will get to relax for three nights in your own private cottage and infinity pool overlooking astonishing views. Morning and evening game viewing, bush walks, fishing and cultural visits are just a few of the activities on offer.
-
Day 5 - 7 - Meru National Park - Shaba National Reserve - Samburu
Board a charter flight to Shaba National Reserve where you will stay where Joy Adamson, the author of Born Free, lived until 1980. Here she famously reintroduced Penny the leopard into the wild. Enjoy your tented suite and feel closer to wildlife. Activities include game viewing, guided walks, painting and spa treatments.
-
Day 8 - 10 - Shaba National Reserve - Masai Mara
Depending on when you travel, you may experience the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth. From the southern Serengeti in Tanzania up to two million animals migrate north into Kenya’s Masai Mara from the turn of the year through to September/October, when they head back south. Wildebeest, zebra and Thomson’s gazelle graze their way up through the short nutritiously rich grass plains of the Serengeti, with predators, lion, cheetah, and hyena in their wake, usually reaching the Mara in July. Stay three nights in a luxury camp ideally positioned to access this extraordinary scene.
-
Day 11 - 12 - Masai Mara - Nairobi - London
The return journey to London via Nairobi.
